Yellowstone National Park Celebrates Earth Day 2013

Yellowstone National Park and the Yellowstone Environmental Coordinating Committee (YECC) will celebrate the 43rd anniversary of Earth Day this weekend with community recycling events, demonstrations, games, information on local and national environmental initiatives and much more.

Gardiner, Montana Events:
Saturday, April 20 at Arch Park and the Yellowstone Association:
10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.: Community Clean-up Opportunities (town and Adopt-a-Highway) and E-waste and scrap metal collection at Arch Park
12:00 p.m.: free community BBQ at Arch Park
12:30 p.m.-2:00 p.m.: Eco-themed films, Wildlife Olympics and information tables (Questions, please call Dylan at (307) 344-5204)
Saturday, April 27
10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.: In collaboration with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Medcor and the National Park Service will host a National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day in the Yellowstone Association Building.

West Yellowstone, Montana Events:
Friday, April 26
5pm: Reception at the Holiday Inn West Yellowstone showing the first of two films associated with the Earth Day Film Festival
Saturday, April 27
9 a.m. 1 p.m.: Kid s Earth Fair at the Holiday Inn West Yellowstone including presentations, face painting, live music, bear spray demonstrations, art contests and more.
5 p.m.-7 p.m.: Campfire Ranger talk and s mores
7:30 p.m. 10 p.m.: Earth Day Film Fest continues at the Holiday Inn West Yellowstone
Sunday, April 28
10 a.m.: Ranger Walk hosted by the National Forest Service
10 a.m.: Free admission and tours for kids at the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center
1 p.m. 3 p.m.: Earth Day Film Festival concludes at the Holiday Inn West Yellowstone.

The YECC is a collaborative environmental committee consisting of National Park Service, Xanterra Parks & Resorts, Delaware North, Medcor, Yellowstone Park Service Stations, Yellowstone Association and Yellowstone Park Foundation representatives. Through the efforts of the YECC, Yellowstone has been able to make numerous strides toward environmental sustainability in recent years.
