Hi Neighbor (kinda sorta),

To go from Hellroaring trailhead to Tower Junction via the connecting trail and that portion of the Garnet Hill Loop would be somewhere between 3 and 4 miles, probably closer to 3. I would recommend starting at Hellroaring, so you don't have to do that steep uphill at the end of your hike.

Try not to do this itinerary on a really hot July day. That long flat walk on the dusty dirt road from the cookout area could be sheer torture in overly warm temperatures!

Stay alert in that stretch for potential badger dens, with young of the year wandering around. Two years ago, we found a den rather close to the dirt road, and got some great photos of juvenile badgers. That was in May or June. In July, the young are usually starting to wander out from the den.

It looks like we will probably be in the park in late September/early October. Jane has a conference at Big Sky, and is bringing me as her driver/staff. Any chance you will be around?
