With the number of visitors in that building and the condition of the interior (have you ever used the restrooms?) I'm not surprised that they are going for a full removal of the interior down to the stone walls.

Many years ago I worked in the oldest building on my college campus (1868) which had a similar rehabilitation. With a sturdy steel frame holding up the floors inside the old stone walls and totally new plumbing and electrical systems, it was a nice place to work.

They salvaged many of the architectural details from the original building and applied them over the modern wall framing to keep the interior from looking like a brand-new building.

I'm hoping that they will do something similar with salvageable parts of the Albright building interior.
