I'm considering hiking Specimen Ridge Trail end to end and was wondering what peoples thoughts are on starting at the Lamar River trail head and getting the steepest hiking to Amethyst Mountain out of the way. It seems after that it's all slightly downhill and even level at points. Any insight?? Thanks!
