I've stayed in cabins at Colter Bay and Signal Mountain in the past two years. My preference is Colter Bay. When I stayed there, my cabin had two queen beds and one single bed and was quite large. The beds were comfortable; the bath was private and shower only but that was fine with me.

I enjoyed the food at the restaurant at Colter Bay; the food at Signal Mountain Lodge dining room was mediocre at best and the service was terrible. I wrote one of my few negative reviews on Trip Advisor after our experience there. We were not the only ones disappointed in the meal that night; I heard others complain to the manager as we were leaving.

Colter Bay has an amphitheater with evening ranger programs and there are lots of other things to do in the area, as mentioned by others. The cabins are in the woods and I felt the area was less crowded, busy and noisy than at Signal Mountain.

One more opinion to add to the mix.
