I was afraid of that! I do agree that: 1. the current Tower Store area is a zoo and between the parking, the store, camping, and the trail the whole area is increasingly degraded and that building a bigger complex in that same location is not an option 2. there is a real need for those kinds of public services in that area 3. placing the new structure outside the winter closure is a good idea, and 4. that flat area on the way to Yancy's Hole is probably the easiest to build on and in fact would cause the least ecological destruction BUT that whole "T" corridor, from Mammoth to Tower and to NE entrance is one of the most invariably beautiful and natural in the park. Putting a structure and creating a services hub at that intersection would for me destroy the wonderful peace and beauty of Roosevelt Lodge as a place to stay, disrupting my treasured fantasy of being away from civilization.

I hope they at least plan to build it back from the road a bit such that it can be screened from view a little by trees/landforms or whatever.

MAJOR :-(
