If you're not doing mostly wildlife I'd stay in West Yellowstone. There is more to do in town, more food places, and it's less than an hour to old Faithful and not much farther to Canyon (two places you'll want to visit). Perhaps travel the Beartooth Highway on the way and stay in Silver Gate or Cooke City, enter the Northeast entrance and travel through the park and stay in West to visit the rest of the park. Have a wonderful time!!
