I wish that I had done what you are doing when I was your age; just like GH said. I also am thinking about retiring, and although I don't think I'm going to move really close to the Park, i want to spend at least one entire summer there, and then live close enough to visit 3 or 4 times a year. So you go ahead and see the sites, make friends, go into the backcountry (but be smart and careful!) and have a blast! Let us know how it goes.
