Granite Head,

To my knowledge, there are no documented cases to date.

For strong supporters of allowing bison to migrate out of the park without being incarcerated and/or slaughtered, the lack of a documented case is offered as evidence supporting a relaxation of the harsh treatment of bison outside the park.

For Montana DOL and many of the ranchers they aim to protect, the lack of documented transmission is attributed to the success of the capture and slaughter program.

If you're a bison, you can't win!

It took three instances of documented elk transmission to livestock in Park County, MT to force the changes that are being planned, yet the plan does not include any capture and test, or capture and slaughter of elk anywhere.

It will be interesting to see if bison achieving "wildlife" status in Montana, which theoretically gives them parity with elk, will result in any effective change in management over time.
