As a British citizen living in Britain and planning to visit Yellowstone with my British partner in September. I feel quite lucky that we won't have to pay more than US citizens. I guess you could make the argument that Yellowstone is a treasure of the whole world and belongs to the whole world. But then, it's overwhelmingly mostly you US citizens that subsidize the running costs of Yellowstone with taxes.

I expect to pay $50 park fees for two of us to visit Yellowstone & Grand Teton for three weeks. That's peanuts compared to my overall costs (at least a hundred times more by the time it's all over) and I would be willing to pay at least three or four times that 50$ figure. Surely it should be possible for higher entrance rates to be charged to those who can't prove they are US citizens or US tax payers at the entrance gate? Could the extra money then be used to subsidize cheaper accommodation?
