June 20

Our meeting time for the sunrise float trip was 6:00 a.m. across the road from the Moose visitor center. Since we were up at Colter Bay, that gave us a bit of a drive, although nowhere near as far as three years ago when we did the same outing and had to come from Grant Village. Still, it necessitated an early start. The morning bathroom activities for the group lasted a tad bit longer than I had anticipated, so I was a little worried about being on time.

Naturally, we had the first halfway pretty morning we'd had so far on the trip--a good omen for the rafting, but a little frustrating since I wanted to pull over and spend a while shooting the sunrise but felt rushed. The first light on the range was especially nice, though, and I pulled the car over and told Lissa to hop out and see what she could get fairly quickly. (My camera was packed in the back, but she always kept hers on her lap.) She got this nice shot of the dawn breaking on the Grand, and then we were back on our way.
