Doing your homework, as you are, before you go will vastly improve your fun. I'd suggest that as questions come up your start a new thread on the chat page so others will see and respond with their ideas - folks here are extremely knowledgeable and will add great ideas. Just be sure they know you're going in May since some of the good things like ranger-led talks and walks may not start until June.

Having said that, May will be great and not as busy as later in the summer. Just be prepared for all kinds of weather, dress in layers, mornings and nighttime tends to be cold, sunny days may be quite warm - peel on peel off :-)

The other suggestion is to get Janet Chapples's lovely book, Yellowstone Treasures. It's based on touring by car (as opposed let's say to back-country hiking), stop-by-stop, and is accurate, useful, and interesting. There's a short section on the Tetons (particularly the geology) as well. You can get it on her website or Amazon.
