The best times to see wildlife are at or just before dawn and right around dusk. Of course, you can and will see wildlife at any time. When in Mammoth, go down the eastern side of the Grand Loop and turn left onto the Northeast Entrance road at Tower Junction. This will take you to Lamar Valley, probably the most abundant place for wildlife in the USA.

If you see a lot of cars pulled over and people with big cameras or spotting scopes, park safely and legally and politely ask what is in view. It may be a bear or a wolf.

Also, while staying in West Yellowstone make sure to visit the Canyon area as well as Hayden Valley. Same rules apply :-)

Finally remember that park rules state you MUST remain at least 25 yards away from wildlife, 100 yards from wolves and bears. A 16 year old girl was mauled by a bison this past week because she got within 3-6 feet for a picture. Not smart.

HAVE A GREAT TRIP!!!!!
