Hoot,

You did real good! Love the light and the detail.

I would love to hear the "rest of the story". What was this pint size predator up to?

Long-tailed weasels are hard to come by as photographic subjects in Yellowstone. Over the many decades I have wandered the park, I only have a handful of sightings. Several are still vividly remembered, even though they occurred over 25 years ago. It is rare that they sit still long enough for anyone to get a decent photo. Two of my sightings were in the late 1980s, in winter, skiing down toward the Fairy Falls trailhead from Mallard Lake. In all the years I hung out in Rocky Mountain National Park, I only saw one of these characters once, and that was also in the winter. It was running around A Loop in the Moraine Park Campground, the only one open that winter. I'm not sure if anyone was camped there at the time. The little dude never paused long enough, or close enough, to get a decent photo.

Judging by the shadows, I'm guessing this was way early morning or shortly before sunset.

Most excellent!

Ballpark
