Very good advice.

I'll add that you might want to spend one day touring Grand Teton National Park, just to the south of Yellowstone, or just travel through it on the way from or to Jackson, WY. The sight of those tall Tetons across Jenny Lake are beautiful. Floating down the Snake River through that park is rather tame...nice scenery but not too exciting. Your boys might like rafting out of Gardiner MT on the Yellowstone River, which has a little whitewater, better. I've seen rafting advertised from Cody and Jackson but am unfamiliar with their trips. And if you do any backcountry hiking in either of the parks, please stay together and carry bear spray. I liked both Mt. Washburn and Bunsen Peak for the views from the tops, but the most challenging (with a great view from top also) was Avalanche Peak. Don't fail to ask questions of the rangers at the desks in the Visitor Centers at most locations in the park. But doing advance research and becoming acquainted with the park beforehand is very wise. And if you have your dates, be sure to reserve some lodging right away.
