I will be in the park for parts of May 21 and 22. Have never been to Lone Star Geyser. Is Lone Star Geyser part of a bear closure area that time of year?

Also, its been a few years since I visited at this time of year but I recall the south entrance road did not use to open until Memorial Day weekend. Information I saw on the internet somewhere indicated it would be open before my visit this year. Can anyone confirm the planned opening date for the South Entrance road? (Will be traveling from western Montana to/from Jackson, WY and this would be my preferred route if available.)
