This is called the Harlowe Triptych; from the museum sign:
Harlow Triptyc, c. 1930
Three Old Gentleman
Morning Mist
Dall Sheep
Oil on canvas
Carl Rungius (Germany, 1869-1959)

Arthur Harlow, Rungius s first art dealer, commissioned this triptych. Harlow came to Rungius s studio in 1919. Rungius remarked, Harlow, not being a hunter, did not know the difference between a sheep and a goat in those days, but he liked the work. The first painting sent to Harlow immediately sold and the two formed a life-long friendship.

Artistically, this work traces Rungius s journey from his early interest in oose to his later introduction to Dall sheep in the Yukon and to mountain goats in Banff. Individually, the paintings are good examples of his mature style. Together, the three combine to create a tour de force, displaying Rungius s artistic and personal development in North America.
