Great horned owl fledgling hunkered down under the deep eaves of a building in Mammoth. Like most owls they're primarily nocturnal, and like safe, peaceful places to snooze during the day. I was surprised to see this little guy's eyes wide open because I was a fair distance away and assumed I wasn't disturbing him.
