Thank You Ballpark,

I appreciate all the information! We aren't going to be spending much time in Montana or Idaho (we're driving out to Yellowstone from the East Coast, so we will be heading through northern Wyoming over through South Dakota).

In past visits however I've gotten Montana Sapphires (mostly from Gem Valley in Livingston) and they are quite pretty! I've also visited the Museum of the Rockies previously, and will say it was a great museum!

I've done a fair bit of googling for areas in Wyoming, but there isn't much current info out there on sites. I was hoping to find some agates, though I might have better luck in the Black Hills area. A couple people said to look in the canyon area from Cody to the East Entrance (along the Shoshone River?) and to the south of Cody in Oregon Basin.

If we have the time I'd like to check out that Tom Miner Basin area - so thanks for that!
