No worries, hope you had a good hike!
I'm not surprised to hear that the overlook is slightly underwhelming. From the official pictures released, it seems to be a slightly more elevated view than you would get from the boardwalk.
I wonder if this new platform will deter more "ambitious" people as you call them, or encourage people to climb up the hill just a bit higher, to get a better vantage point?
