Seeing wolves on closing weekend is almost a tradition. I remember so many instances of that happening over the years, including the time a group of us were walking back to the Fairy Falls trailhead, and could see the silhouettes of multiple wolves in the steam close to the parking lot, but way in the distance. I think Tim and Betsy were with us. I remember some howling happening!
My old buddy, Jim Mastin, retired City of Livingston Fire Chief, e-mailed me some photos of wolves that were feeding on a bison carcass on closing weekend. Based on a conspicuous sign in one of the photos, it appeared to have been somewhere near Nez Perce Creek.
OMG, a third squirrel just showed up. He actually stood on his hind legs, looking out over the backyard, and appeared to be vocalizing (kind of like a bull elk bugling). I wonder if he was trying to warn off any of his competitors.
