Actually, when I lived around there, it was typically the Friday after Thanksgiving when we would get out on our skis. It's amazing how many times there was enough snow to ski up to the Tower Store, and one year, we actually were able to ski the entire loop, up the road above the store and back down the Chittenden Road through the campground.
