Obviously, the tremendous drop in the price of gasoline has been a factor in this trend, but there may be some additional factors.
The economy has been slowly improving over time.
Terrorism and turmoil overseas (including Malaysian Air aircraft failing to reach their destinations) might be influencing those who would otherwise travel abroad to opt for domestic vacations.
I wonder whether there will be any movement on the part of the federal government to increase funding for national parks to mitigate the impact of such dramatically increased visitation, particularly if this proves to be a long term trend, and not just a one or two year phenomenon.
