A few years ago, my sis-in-law spotted a whooping crane on her property here in MI. With our scope we were able to get a look at the birds bands. When we reported the sighting, we were "strongly urged" not to post the location on any birding sites. We were warned that "listers" and photographers would over run her crops, cows, pets and small children to get a look at this bird and would stop at nothing to get "a little closer" for the perfect photo. I would love to have been able to share this "life" bird with fellow Audubon Club members, but, to protect the bird and her property, we didn't post it. We just called a couple close friends and took them to see the bird.

Sad that we always have to think about the crazies and the rude folks who will have no respect for property or resources.

When we hiked out to Lonestar this summer, we picked up granola bar and candy wrappers. We always do the same at picnic areas when we stop. I draw the line at cig. bu*ts and TP, but I'll pick up most other bits and stuff them in my pack. Sheesh, people, if ya carried it IN when it was full....why can't ya carry it OUT when it's empty and lighter?????
