So...we've managed to finalize our June trip, including flying our 8 yr. old grandson and his family to the park for 5 nights. I've indicated before that he has a few "issues", and we are beginning to work with him now to prepare him for the trip. At this point he has decided, on his own, that he "will not kick any bison" (good plan!), and that he "will not get out of the car if a bison is within a zillion miles" (that will make our job of watching him a whole lot easier). Obviously we need some more work, and to that end I am wondering if anyone has any favorite books or dvds oriented to children. Besides Cubby in Wonderland, which I will begin trying to read with him after the holidays, I've been disappointed in what I've looked at so far. It would be especially nice if there was something that emphasized safety around hot stuff and behavior around wildlife. Any other suggestions about working with him to better his experience would be most appreciated, too.

One other thing....I've been tutoring a 14 year old boy with reading and writing for the first semester of the school year whose name just happens to be Lamar. He is embarrassed to use it, so he goes by his middle name. I've been trying to tell him about the Lamar Valley, and I'm not sure he really understands that it is a real place. I thought I'd give him a small gift at the end of the semester, and thought a photo of the valley would be appropriate. However, as I've looked through the few photos that I've taken I became aware that I have no "overview" photos of the area...lots of small details, usually involving wildlife, but nothing showing the valley as such. I'm wondering if anyone here would have a "valley" photo that I could print and frame to give to him. I'm happy to work with anyone regarding details and logistics about this....if you have any such thing my email is cls child (at) earthlink (dot) net
