The hunt is happening for two simple reasons, One is Trophy, which I don't subscribe to and two, to reduce the populations of wolves in the NRM, this was part of the plan since day one, it was part of the original documentation for re-introduction of wolves to the NRM.
Now of course, living in NW Montana, I don't really believe we needed to re-introduce wolves, we have wolves migrating back into the area from Canada, they are expanding and increasing their home ranges.
George, you have to understand, your purpose, might not be someone elses purpose. But simply stated, it has a two fold reason, Trophies and Population reduction.
We are never going to see the populations we had in the past, in fact it is probably going to be a token population of wolves in the NRM, with the influx and expansion of human populations we are not going to see anything we have seen in the past.
That is just a fact of life.
