I'm not a fan of killing wolves that don't prey on livestock. I just listened to an NPR interview on the loss of wolf 06. Doug Smith, of all people, feels that the wolf hunt is a necessary evil to calm the anger that often surrounds the wolf introduction program... listen to the tape below and pay attention at about 3:20 into the audio where he says "you have to have hunting if we're going to have wolves" and "you can't have people mad all the time". I think he strikes a realistic point of view.
