Carolyn left Gardiner uber-early, picked Rob up at Canyon and they drove down to meet us at Jenny Lake around 10 a.m. I left them all there to catch the ferry across the lake and I headed down to Jackson to hit Albertson's for groceries. Thought I'd spend some time in town, but it was really busy. There was something special going on. No place to park the big van in the public parking so I headed back up to the park.

Meanwhile, the rest of the fam hiked Hanging Canyon. As I recall, it's only about 4 miles but it is STEEP. No maintained trail up there. On Tuesday of that week, one of Rob's co-workers at Canyon had taken a nasty fall while hiking Hanging Canyon alone. Fortunately there were other hikers in the area that went for help. He was short-hauled out and suffered a broken ankle, broken jaw, and some pretty nasty cuts and bruises. They estimated that he fell about 25 feet.

I don't have descriptions for any of these photos, since I wasn't on the hike. They are all in Hanging Canyon, I can tell ya that much :-)
