Our kitchen area - and all food - is usually stored away from the tents so I don't worry about bears being drawn to food odors. I realize that it's possible that a bear *might* wander through that exact area while I'm sitting there, but not really that likely.

I found out later that my family was more concerned about me than I was :-) They headed back down to be sure that I was okay. My darling daughter said she was worried that a "bad guy" or a bear might get me while they were away.

I really wasn't concerned at all. I thoroughly enjoyed the quiet time and the surroundings. I explored along the creek a bit, filled my water bottles. Checked out some plants and wildflowers. Caught up on my journal and did some reading. Other hikers passed by close enough for me to hear them on the trail but none came up to our campsite.
