Just before we got to Gardiner, saw rangers along side the road watching a herd of about 130 bison that we at the park boundry. Turns out, there was a Native American bison hunt, and they were waiting for the bison to go out of the park, so they could harvest them.
Got in the park at 3:45, and drove slowly to Lamar Valley. Saw lots of bison near and far, and elk in the distance. At Yellowstone picnic saw 2 coyotes, which ran behind a hill.
Drove to Soda Butte, was going to turn around, but saw a car that wasn't moving, so thought wolves. It was but wasn't. The lady had seen one two hours before, and nothing more. Then Rick M pulled in and we listened to the beeps, so there was one nearby.
Got back to Gardiner and hit the bed.
