I hope I wasn't too harsh on anyone. I have "held my tongue" in past reports, but I guess this time didn't, in hopes that people might recognize their own behavior? I think most visitors are just excited, and not thinking what affect they might have on the animals or others viewing them.
Regarding Trail Creek, I will have to look on a map to give you precise directions, but Trail Creek is a road that roughly parallels 90 from Bozeman to Livingston, south of 90 at a lower elevation. Traveling east on Trail Creek (paved for several miles and unpaved for several more), you come to a fork. The left fork is Divide Road which is unpaved. It goes up and over the final elevation before you get to the Yellowstone Valley and Rt 89. Once you reach 89 from Divide, you have about 40 miles to Gardiner. The right fork is also unpaved and windy, I think it's called Juniper Creek or Pine Creek (there are Junipers all over, both sides of the road) which finally intersects with the Old Yellowstone Road, (bear right, then left) which then parallels 89 for several more miles until it delivers you 89. From here, you are just north of the flashing light at Emmigrant.
The thing to remember if you plan to explore, is that these roads get REALLY muddy in spring, and there can be partial wash outs. I had some extreme fishtailing over Divide Road one time and narrowly avoided getting stuck in very deep mud. So June may not be the month to try it.
E-mail me if you have other questions.
