Yellowstone Seeks Comment on Isa Lake Bridge Reconstruction Plan
The National Park Service (NPS) is seeking public comment on a plan to reconstruct the Isa Lake Bridge in its existing location at Craig Pass within Yellowstone National Park. The plan would address the deteriorated condition of the timber bridge that was constructed in 1942.
During reconstruction, the road would remain open via a temporary bridge spanning Isa Lake. Additional aspects of the plan include repairs to the existing parking area and pullouts, the existing kiosk, and safety concerns would be addressed. The project would begin in the spring of 2014 dependent upon funding availability.
An Environmental Assessment (EA) that describes the methods to be used and the impacts of the plan has been prepared in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act. The EA is available on the NPS Planning, Environment and Public Comment (PEPC) website, http://parkplanning.nps.gov/IsaLake. Respondents are encouraged to submit their comments through the PEPC website. Comments may also be mailed to the address above or hand-delivered during normal business hours to the Mailroom in the park s Administration Building in Mammoth Hot Springs, Wyoming.
Comments will not be accepted by fax, e-mail, or in any other way than those specified above. Bulk comments in any format (hard copy or electronic) submitted on behalf of others will not be accepted. Comments must be received by midnight MDT, April 14, 2013.
