This fire has officially been named the Index Creek fire...was last updated at 200 acres and is 10 percent contained. Details can now be found on inciweb at the link below.
So far as I know, US 212 has not been closed since re-opening, but I was told yesterday while in the park that the status could change should the fire begin to re-approach the highway.
Is it too much to ask for a late-season appearance of the California monsoon to just sweep across much of the Rocky Mountain region right now?
