We were in a Subaru Outback which was fine. I think I wouldn't take a Prius up there though. The road isn't TOO bad up to White Grass, but beyond it as I recall (haven't driven past it in several years) the road gets worse.

If you go up there take pics, I'd love to see if there's any progress!

If you want to get to Phelps Lake without destroying your under-carriage, start at the Rockefeller Preserve - from there it's a mile or two walk to the shore of Phelps, and then a lovely 4-5 more miles to walk around the lake.
