I'm wondering if anyone has done this backpack. I'm planning on spending the 1st night at site 8C2, the 2nd night at site at 8B5 and the 3rd night at site 8C6. My guide book, published in 2003 says to avoid the snake river cut-off trail in an attempt to shave off mileage because it isn't maintained often and hard to follow. If anyone has been in that area in the last couple of years and has any input, i'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Also wondering peoples thoughts of using a "steri-pen" rather than a water filter.
