Dear Loons and lurkers,
Just a quick note to celebrate that our favorite Park is back up and running. I have been in Bozeman since Saturday, and entered through the gate at 9:15AM this morning. The mountains are quite snowy on top with a light dusting on all the high slopes and patches of snow on north facing spots.
No wolves for me today but Canyons were seen in their usual spot (usual since they moved to a new rendezvous). I did have several excellent sightings, starting with a bison car cuss at Blacktail Ponds. Not fresh, but still good enough for 7 coyotes and a juvenile bald. I also saw two beautiful grizzlies - one at the confluence and the other across the road from Ice Box canyon. Both were eating diligently and both looked extremely healthy. I also saw elk at Hellroaring and Junction Butte, and heard some wonderful bugling.
A lot less bison than this past summer, but I bet I see more tomorrow.
