Yes we have done it. Its a great way to get quickly to a very remote and fascinating part of the park. We actually had our drift boat towed over the Columbine Point and then rowed past the mouth of the Yellowstone and stayed at campsite 6A4 for 3 nights. If you want to do this trip next summer, I recommend trying to make a reservation soon.
