Is an informational sign discussing Mission 66 and some of the improvements it led to in the Canyon area (with a cool "before" photo of the Canyon VC). It's located roughly across from the restrooms at the north end of the VC. Probably has been there for years, but I finally had to park down that way not long ago and so stumbled across it for the first time walking to the main entrance.
Makes me wonder what other stuff I've overlooked for eons in places I'm familiar with...
