Chico is a 40 minute drive north of Yellowstone, so although we often book one night there, it's not a good place to commute back and forth to the park. Having said that, especially if you're staying at the north end (Mammoth or Gardiner)of the park you can reasonably spend a very nice afternoon-evening there, just watch for mule deer and other critters on the road on your way home at night.
The poolside grill is nice for lunch, great dining room for dinner that does not require dress-up (but some people do) - the only expectation is that you be clean ;-) MAKE A RESERVATION however, especially if there's an event it can be hard to get a table.
Soaking in the pool is glorious. If you're not staying at the hotel, I think you can get a locker and towels, you might want to call ahead and be sure.
There's a spa (which I haven't tried) and horse back riding and just hanging out and chilling by the pool or on the grounds. Sweet little gift shop too.
Nice way to spend time in Montana!
