Flash forward a couple of days to Yellowstone...we had finished our hike to Fairy Falls (in a mad dash over the last 200 yards, caught in one of those only-in-Yellowstone 10 minute soaking "snhail-storms"), stopped at Snow Lodge for a tall icy drink, then headed on our way south...only to approach the bridge over the Firehole (shortly before Kepler)to behold (drum roll) a bear jam! Ironically this is in the area about which Janet Chapple says, "Prior to 1970, the area near the pond south of the bridge was the site of a bear feeding grounds, called The Bears Playground."
Another grizzly sow and one year-old cub were doing their sweet bear thing just below the bridge.
