Dan Wenk is taking a leave of absence from his job in Yellowstone temporarily to head up the National Parks Foundation in Washington, D.C. until a new leader is selected for that organization.
This article in National Parks Traveler is much more informative than the Yellowstone press release and talks about how they are handling the conflict of interest issues.

I heard from YA employees in September that there have been merger talks between the Yellowstone Park Foundation (headquartered in Bozeman, MT) and the Yellowstone Association (headquartered in Gardiner, MT).
