I learned my lesson a few years ago about answering questions about when a geyser will erupt. They keep their own time. I was at Great Fountain Geyser and while I was waiting for it to erupt I was watching White Dome in the distance. White Dome erupted every 20 minutes while I watched. When I was done with Great Fountain I went over by White Dome. A lady got out of her car and asked me when White Dome was going to erupt. I told her it should be any minute now, certainly no longer than 20 minutes. An hour later when it hadn't erupted yet she left in a huff. Of course it erupted shortly after she pulled away in her car, but I learned that geysers work on their own time and I don't know enough to make predictions. Having said that, when I was there in June it seems like Vixen was erupting about every 1½ hours. Stop and listen. If you hear lots of splashing stick around for awhile. It is a small geyser that only erupts for a few minutes but stick around after it is done. The sound the water draining back into the geyser makes is the best part of the eruption. Hope this helps.
