This photo was taken about two weeks earlier, and is presumed to be the father of the great horned owl brood growing up fast in Mammoth because he was on a tree about 50 feet from the nest. In the nest was another adult we guess was the mother, and an occasional little fuzzy head popping up. I think there were three owlets this year. Between the sighting of the father and the mother on the nest and when we photographed the fledgling the babies had gotten too big to huddle together in the nest.
