Paul,

Sorry to lump you in my category, but that is what greywolf has titled me on a few occasions (young, petulant kid that she is).

I enjoyed our mini-reunion, and followed your wishes to say "Hi" to the deserters that hang out on Facebook. I was surprised to get so many "Likes" for that post. They must have been thinking of some other "Paul". LOL

Regarding the quake, I also missed it. I had finally crashed in my own bed after a 5 week hiatus, with several weeks of "camping in my house", i.e. sleeping in a sleeping bag on an air bed in close proximity to the floor. This hummer was one of the 5.8 variety, and the strongest since 1964. What nobody seems to be talking about is the history of this particular fault. If you look at what happened in October, 1935, you see there was a large temblor like this one early in the month, followed by a succession of apparent aftershocks. A week or two later, another big one hit. Late that month, the biggest of the bunch arrived, which killed two people and caused lots of damage. The question this raises is whether this flurry of aftershocks are actually "preshocks" to some future larger event. BTW, this fault is part of a lengthy intermountain seismic zone that extends down to Yellowstone and the surrounding area. It's the same system that produced 1964's Hebgen Lake killer quake.

Wouldn't you know it! I leave one rather active seismic zone, and now, this one starts ramping up. Is it something I said?
