This area is a bit harder in terms of ID as there just isn't as much info on this area.
But from what I can tell and what I've read these are two different features you are referring to. There is a Beach Spring near Aurum Geyser in the Upper Geyser Basin (which is what Whittlesey is referring to) and then there is a Beach Springs (note this is plural) near Mary Bay.
Now, I'm not sure if Beach Springs refers to that general area, or that particular geothermal feature, but here is a descriptive blurb of the region (taken from Yellowstone Winter Guide):
"A mile or so beyond Indian Pond is Mary Bay, a much larger steam explosion crater. Thermal activity on the west end of Mary Bay, in an area known as Beach Springs, is obvious and sometimes the cause of bare pavement on the road."
All maps/atlases I've looked at just have the area marked as Beach Springs, so I don't think there is a separate official name for this particular geothermal feature.
