TravelingBear,

I have not driven the Artist Point road yet this summer, but with the Upper Falls/Uncle Tom's trail parking lot closed, I would expect unparalleled parking hassles at Artist Point.

I have driven (or tried to drive) the North Rim Drive numerous times, because I monitor the osprey nests visible from Lookout Point. That drive has turned into a human circus, occasionally complicated by the bull elk that hang out in that meadow and narrow strip of forest across the road from the Canyon corrals. If those bulls are out, traffic backs up onto the Grand Loop Road, and you have lines of vehicles on both sides of the road. I have witnessed visitors parking on the shoulder of the Grand Loop Road at the busiest times of day, and choosing to walk through the meadow and strip of forest to access the Brink of the Lower Falls trail.

Of course, if you show up early in the day or late in the day, the congestion eases considerably.
