Might have to be in the Tower area! I had avoided that section just because it is the farthest from West Yellowstone, where we'll be staying. Google maps says it'll take 1-1/2 hours to get to Tower Junction, and as you've said, it could easily be much longer. But you have me thinking it might be worth it. I've read about the Picnic trail and Trout Lake. Does Picnic have narrow sections high up? I'm a little afraid of heights and I'm extra nervous with my 3-year-old.
I've never heard of the Wrecker trail. That sounds wonderful!
There won't be any restaurants real close. But I plan to pack in lunch everyday and we can stop for dinner in Canyon on our way out.
Thanks for the warning about the possibility of being stuck without food or drink options. Would not be fun with a van full of kids! So I'll have an emergency stash of granola bars, trail mix and water with us.
Feel free to keep the tips coming. I love it! Planning a trip is almost as fun as the actual thing for me.
