Hi Sue! I generally recommend that people stay in the parks to cut down on commute time from the "gateway" towns if possible, but it is late in the game and you are likely to have difficulty finding lodging in either Yellowstone or the Tetons. Having said that, tell us what kind of place you like - romantic cabins? Historic hotels? Just a decent safe clean motel? Do you have a price in mind? There are numbers of options in the towns adjacent to both parks. We can also advise against certain places just because the locations aren't that great. An example would be Flagg Ranch, which is between two parks along the Rockefeller Parkway. The locale makes it "neither here nor there" and a long drive from what you might want to see and do in either park. And, no views of the Tetons!

Also what kinds of things are you hoping to do in the parks? Is hiking a priority? Geology and scenery? Wildlife-watching?

By the time you get there, Mr. Moose's antlers will be twice or three times the size they were in June - Grand Teton National Park, 2012. :-)
