Flew from Alaska on the 3rd and drove to the Stone on the 6th. Took my wife and her three children and my four children. My wife and her three children had never been there before. It was great to see their excitement.

I'm not sure that there is ever a bad time to visit Yellowstone but this time of year is probably one of my least favorites due to the heat and number of people. However, I do like August because of the bison rut and the kids were able to see alot of bison along with some fights between some bulls, alot of grunting, and some wallowing.

Spent Tuesday the 7th exploring the geyser basins. Hiked from Black Sand GB up through the Upper GB over to Old Faithful. I haven't done that trip for a while. Took my wife's oldest son and my three oldest. I can say that the signs at Punch Bowl Spring are in need of a new paint job, however, the old brown background with the yellow lettering is very nostalgic for me.

Spent Wednesday the 8th exploring the Northern loop of the park. The kids were able to see some deer and bighorn sheep but I could tell they were chomping for something more so I drove them down into the Northern part of Hayden Valley. They were able to see alot of bison and evan some wolves through the generosity of some folks with some spotting scopes. Were able to see the black male of the Canyon pack along with the grey female and one pup. It really made the day for the kiddos.

Thursday the 9th spent at Canyon and Lake. Lots of bison and a few bull elk.

Short trip but the kids loved it and it was fun seeing their excitement.

Rob
