399 et al photos. They are well worth the wait!
It is such a wonderful story. Occasionally, I remind myself that it was not that long ago that grizzly bears were believed to have been extirpated from the entirety of Grand Teton National Park via hunting, poaching, and conflicts with ranchers. Then we saw the gradual reoccupation of their former range over time, and now we have enough great stories to justify the publication of books like Todd Wilkinson and Tom Mangelson's "Grizzlies of Pilgrim Creek". We are living in such an exciting time! I just hope 399's cubs survive to adulthood, complementing the already substantial genetic contribution 399 has made to the community of grizzlies in the Tetons.
